A Debut

Here's a very exciting development in the performing life of a musical father.
My daughter, Zoe, who is currently 15, will be playing and singing along with me
in public for the first time early next month. Please see the CALENDAR for details.

Old Pal's Havin' a Blast

Just discovered this clip of my old bandmate Jackie Greene jamming with the Allman Brothers last October.
Looks like a lot of fun...

Bells will be ringing

On Wednesday, October 15th, 2008, my love "Lele" and I were married in a civil ceremony before my 13 year old daughter, Zoe, my brother John, and Lorraine's sister, Linda.

Airplay

Heard through the grapevine that local dee jay, Mick Martin, will be playing 3 songs from my new CD on his next show which airs Sat. Feb. 2, 1-5pm. You can tune to his show on the web here: Blues Party on KXJZ.

Rockin' out

I'm playing electric guitar on the worship team at my church, the Rock of Roseville. I can't say enough about how it blesses me.

Music for the new cd is final and the one song was featured two Sundays
back by the Sacramento Bee with a nice little write up and a free download of the song, "Anna Lee", available on their site. (Scroll down to December 28 if you're going there)

Also, here's a clip someone put up on YouTube of the Jackie Greene Band playing his song "Mexican Girl" which is an excerpt from the "Broken Hearts and Dusty Roads" DVD which I helped to make.

New CD almost finished

After working on album number 3 for almost a year, I am about to finish final mixes.
I feel very good about it.

Also, I have been playing bass (and some guitar) with a cover band called the Rolling Blackouts with Steve Boutte
and his bro-in-law, Bob Hartsgrove, on guitar and drums, respectively. Great guys (and players!)
and we're having a lot of fun.

Following my bliss

Thursday morning worship and prayer has been wonderful.
At the end of the first day I ecountered a big, gnarly biker outside the dive bar
I was gigging at that evening who asked me what he had to do to get baptized and I
shared the gospel with him. His wife looked surprised and he said, "I don't want to be
left outside the gate when other people are going to heaven."

I got my permit last week to work as a street musician in Old Sacramento.
It requires me to wear a costume from about the 1880's. My choice makes me look like a mountan man, I guess. Being
a people lover like I am, I really enjoy the parade. There's not a lot of money in it but I get to do what I want to.

Worship in the belly of the beast

Whilst strolling about the grounds of the state Capitol building this morning playing my mandolin
I happened upon a Christian man - an attorney and sometime Assembly candidate from Manteca -
who invited me to take part in the invitation-only worship meeting a small number of Christians have
inside the building every Thursday morning. The man who usually leads it will be absent next week.

It's nice to feel God's hand in my life.

Turning the page

Having survived perhaps the most painful season of my life thus far
I am ready to put bitterness behind me. (Well, as much as possible anyway)
I will try to restrict my comments here to music and more positive things in life.

Going into the studio again today to do some more work on Hence CD number 3,
"Share Your Love", which I hope to have out by the end of summer.
Working on it has been a very healing process for me.

Also, I am playing music again with my friends Joe and Amy Anne from Xenophilia
and that too has been fun and healing.

  Peace,
   Hence
